A Pain Location Evaluation is our way of determining the true source of the aches and pains you may be experiencing on a reoccurring basis.  Although it may seem like a very simple task, nerve impingments caused by muscular tightness and knots frequently creates what is known as "referral pain."  A prime example of referral pain can be found in the pain associated with impingement of the Sciatic nerves (very common) which run through the gluteus and the back of the legs.

You would be surprised how much pain and how many injuries are experienced from a lack of massage treatment.  With a good majority of our bodies being made up of soft tissue (muscle, tendons, nerves, etc.) it's understandable why something so complex would require maintenance and repair.  We know what happens when a vehicle or a home aren't maintained properly, just imagine when something as intricate as the human body isn't cared for!

In short, muscle fibers like to bunch together (contract) and often times get stuck that way, usually close to the areas of attachment.  These bunches of muscle fibers (knots) frequently cause pinching (impingement) on the very sensitive nerves which run through the muscles and soft tissue.  Since nerves are what tells the brain that we are in pain, many of us tend to live in constant pain and in many cases with terrible migraine headaches.  Many of the primary nerves can cause referral pain in other completely unrelated areas of the body!!

We are completely open to your music preferences.  We currently use Pandora for our music selection which offers a huge variety of saved stations to choose from.  Feel free to suggest a station at any time during your session although we have been complimented many times for our eclectic and modern taste in music!

Some soreness is to be expected following a deep tissue or NMT healing massage session due to the pressure required for releasing knots and treating soft tissue damage.  The soreness will be similar to that experienced following a workout session.

During this period of soreness, it is highly recommended to stay well hydrated and get supplemental rest to aid in the removal of remaining toxins in the muscle fibers.  It can also be hugely beneficial to "float" or take baths in epsom salt solution.

This will vary based on specific factors regarding the individual.  This can include age, physical health, existing injuries, personal preference, budget, pain threshold, etc...  Following your massage session, your practitioner will discuss recommend massage frequency and pricing options that would best suit your needs.

This depends on the type of massage you have requested for your session.  Deep tissue and NMT Healing massage can be painful based on the level of pressure the practitioner must use in order to release the tough knots in muscle fibers.  Many times these knots are bunched up around sensitive nerves which can increase the initial pain of the massage session. This firm pressure is required for effective treatment which will prevent continued referral pain in those areas.

At any point during your massage session, feel free to be vocal and let your practitioner know if there is too much or not enough pressure and any specific areas that feel they may need more attention.

Swedish massage uses light to medium pressure and is best for those who would prefer a more relaxing massage session.  Deep Tissue Massage uses medium to hard pressure and is best for those seeking relief from pain caused by knots in muscle fibers.  NMT Healing Massage uses hard pressure in very specific areas for very effective healing of soft tissue damage.

For the most effective full body massage, it is strongly recommended to be nude or wearing only undergarments to allow the full range of massage.  After you are led into the massage treatment room, you will be given time to allow for removal of clothing to whichever level you feel comfortable.  The massage table has a light blanket for you to climb under which will drape over the gluteal region.

If you prefer little or no touch during your massage session, Energy Healing would be the recommended form of treatment for you.
